Discussion Group: The Toad by Katherine Dunn
We’ll be meeting to discusss this month’s pick, Toad by Katherine Dunn.
We hope that you’ll join us, as always new members are welcome! We’d prefer that you finish the book, but hey sometimes life happens. So, as long as you’re okay with spoilers, you’re free to join if you haven’t finished the book. We hope to see you there!

Website Launch Party
Something in big is happening for the Book People Book Club! We’re launching a website. Come join us as we increase visibility and access to our book club. We will also be introducing our charitable side with this site, by the end of 2025 we hope to be donating funds raised by our members to a variety of literacy focused charities.
To keep this an open event, guests will be asked to purchase at least 1 beverage or food item to help us meet our minimum for the space. Guests, and new members are welcome to this event, so if you’d like to meet our current members before officially joining this is a great time to do so!

Discussion Group
This month’s pick is Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, we will be meeting to discuss the book on Feb. 8th.
New members are welcome to join us and we look forward to meeting with you to chat about the book! If you have not finished the book that is OK, but we will be discussing the book in its entirety so please be aware that spoilers are likely.

Discussion Group
The group had mixed reviews of Perfect Peace by Daniel Black, although reviews did skew more positively than our other mixed reviews. We’d recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a rich tapestry of characters, and is looking to explore generational trauma (specifically parental expectations and their ramifications).

Discussion Group
The group had mixed reviews of Yellowface by R.F. Kuang. Many of us found the main character (justifiably) unlikable. We’d cautiously recommend this book for someone looking for a zany story that explores the publishing industry and our relationship to outrage culture.

Discussion Group
The group had generally positive feedback on The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters. We recommend this book for those wanting to explore complex family relationships, and those who enjoy a winding story that is told from multiple perspectives.

Discussion Group
The group generally appreciated the open ended nature of this book and we’d recommend this book for anyone looking for a book about identity and complex family relationships.
